Released in 2007, the LTO 4 Tapes, a successor of the LTO 3, 2 and 1, are devices that store a huge amount of data. LTO, which means linear tape-open, is magnetic tape type of data storage technology normally using a cartridge. The storage capacity of the LTO 4 is up to a staggering 800GB which was doubled from the device before it, the LTO 3. The LTO 4 has a life span of 17 years if one of its entire tapes is used for every month and 4 years if used every week.
